Our East Austin Happy Hour Tour is, simply put, just really cool. It’s perfect for adventurous visitors, but we think it’s especially awesome for our Austinites who already know Downtown and South Congress like the back of their hands. With a focus on great food and craft cocktails, we’ll provide an insider’s tour of Austin’s fastest growing and most diverse neighborhood. Explore this eclectic side of town that’s making a name for itself as a global melting pot of local restaurants and bars. At the end of the tour, you’ll be able to introduce your friends to some of Austin’s hottest hidden gems.
Avoid parking hassles downtown and download the Lyft app here to get $10 off your first ride using the promo code AUSTINEATS!
Your guide will greet you inside at Salt & Time (1912 E 7th St) at 4:00 p.m. wearing an Austin Eats T-shirt. The tour will conclude at Shangri-La (1016 E 6th St) around 7:00 p.m. Parking on the East Side is limited to metered street parking. This tour does feature alcohol, so we recommend using Lyft to get to and from our meeting stop. For $10 off your first ride, download the Lyft app using the link in the "What to Expect" section!Get Directions
Walking distance for the East Austin Happy Hour Tour is around .75 miles. Unless you have a severe walking issue, let’s go! The other public tours utilize a luxury executive bus with minimal walking distances. If you use a wheelchair or require other assistance, please contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Our guides love to show you a great time, so they really appreciate when you return that love in the form of gratuity! What you decide to tip is, of course, up to you, but we tend to encourage our guests to think of this like a restaurant gratuity: 15%-20% is totally appreciated. Thanks for thinking of it!
No offense, but kids are like pet grizzly bears: unpredictable. All of our tours are adult-oriented, so we suggest getting a sitter and leaving your infants, toddlers, and young children at home. If your kid is 15 or older, they can come along on the BBQ, Brunch & Brewery Tour, as well as on our Best of Austin Food Truck Tour. The Friday East Austin Happy Hour Tour and the Sunday Luxe Brunch Tour are pretty boozy, so we restrict those to guests 21 & over. And it probably goes without saying: we don’t allow anyone under 21 to consume alcohol on our tours, even with parental consent.
***As of 3/10/20: Due to current coronavirus travel interruption, any guest requesting a cancellation will be issued a future credit for the total amount of their reservation, which will never expire. Once this interruption subsides, our standard policy, listed below, will be reinstated***
You may cancel your tour reservation without penalty up to 2 weeks prior to the tour start time. Cancelation within 2 weeks of that time will incur a $25 per ticket cancelation fee. No refunds will be given if you try to cancel within 48 hours of the start time or once the tour has begun.
Austin Eats Food Tours reserves the right to cancel any of our tours if severe weather threatens; if the tour does not meet a minimum number of registered guests; or if there are any other unforeseen circumstances that would prevent the tour from running. In that case, all registered tour guests will receive a full refund for their ticket fees.
We are able to accommodate many common dietary restrictions & allergies. When signing up for a public tour, please complete the dietary needs questionnaire as completely as you can. If you have restrictions beyond what’s covered there, please contact us to find out if the tour is right for you. Please note: while we will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs, your tour experience may differ significantly from that of your fellow tour-goers.

"This tour was the best thing we did in Austin! The locations ranged from food trucks to hip Austin restaurants. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he gave us a lot of Austin history. Great way to see and learn about Austin! I highly recommend it!"
