Not only is Austin ground zero for the country’s original barbecue, but we’ve become a destination for craft beer lovers the world over! Join us on this bus tour of Austin’s funky East Side where you’ll learn about the history of Texas barbecue at one of Austin’s greatest hidden BBQ gems. You’ll also chow down on handmade breakfast tacos, feast on farm-to-table brunch fare, and enjoy tastings at two of Austin’s best local breweries.
Avoid parking hassles on the East Side and download the Lyft app here to get $10 off your first ride using the promo code AUSTINEATS!
Your guide will greet you inside at Lazarus Brewing (1902 E 6th St) at 10:15 a.m. wearing an Austin Eats T-shirt. The tour will finish at Zilker Brewing (1701 E 6th St) one block from the start. Parking in East Austin is limited. There are a few spots available at Lazarus, or street parking on East 6th. This tour does feature alcohol, so we recommend using Lyft to get to and from our meeting stop. For $10 off your first ride, download the Lyft app using the link in the "What to Expect" section!Get Directions
You can see an abridged list of places we go by clicking here. We work with nearly 100 local restaurants, food trucks & bars all over Austin. Our corporate & private tours are fully customized to our clients’ needs. Public tours evolve from time to time so we currently don’t list our lineups for each tour. Besides, where’s the fun in that?
Our guides love to show you a great time, so they really appreciate when you return that love in the form of gratuity! What you decide to tip is, of course, up to you, but we tend to encourage our guests to think of this like a restaurant gratuity: 15%-20% is totally appreciated. Thanks for thinking of it!
We are able to accommodate many common dietary restrictions & allergies. When signing up for a public tour, please complete the dietary needs questionnaire as completely as you can. If you have restrictions beyond what’s covered there, please contact us to find out if the tour is right for you. Please note: while we will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs, your tour experience may differ significantly from that of your fellow tour-goers.
***As of 3/10/20: Due to current coronavirus travel interruption, any guest requesting a cancellation will be issued a future credit for the total amount of their reservation, which will never expire. Once this interruption subsides, our standard policy, listed below, will be reinstated***
You may cancel your tour reservation without penalty up to 2 weeks prior to the tour start time. Cancelation within 2 weeks of that time will incur a $25 per ticket cancelation fee. No refunds will be given if you try to cancel within 48 hours of the start time or once the tour has begun.
Austin Eats Food Tours reserves the right to cancel any of our tours if severe weather threatens; if the tour does not meet a minimum number of registered guests; or if there are any other unforeseen circumstances that would prevent the tour from running. In that case, all registered tour guests will receive a full refund for their ticket fees.
No offense, but kids are like pet grizzly bears: unpredictable. All of our tours are adult-oriented, so we suggest getting a sitter and leaving your infants, toddlers, and young children at home. If your kid is 15 or older, they can come along on the BBQ, Brunch & Brewery Tour, as well as on our Best of Austin Food Truck Tour. The Friday East Austin Happy Hour Tour and the Sunday Luxe Brunch Tour are pretty boozy, so we restrict those to guests 21 & over. And it probably goes without saying: we don’t allow anyone under 21 to consume alcohol on our tours, even with parental consent.

We went on the BBQ, Brunch & Brewery Tour - it was awesome! A great way to experience a lot of Austin/Texas cuisine in a just a few hours. We went to many locally owned places that we wouldn't have been able to discover on our own. Thank you Austin Eats! I highly recommend doing a tour with them!
